RICKETTS FAMILY
|

|
|
In Southside Virginia, folks have a great sense of the
importance of family, and my Family means a lot to me. This helps explain
the many hours I used to spend in the Clerk's Office in Chatham, Virginia,
searching through the old records for information on Family History
(Genealogy). My brother Ray Ricketts and I even got enough information on
the Ricketts people that years ago we wrote two books, Truth & Honor,
and Truth & Honor II. The first is out of print. We
have a few copies of the second book stashed away somewhere. Send
email if you're
interested. |

This part of our website features the man who brought
the first circus to America:
John Bill Ricketts |

My family is descended from
William Ricketts
of southside Virginia. We have an outline of his descendents.
Years after my grandmother Lucy Mills Ricketts died, I discovered that she
wrote a diary. I have included part of it that she called "A Sketch
of My Life." |

Over twenty-five years, Nancye and I "dragged" our
children to have a
family portrait made. Bobby never liked to be in pictures and we
had to drag him down the hallway. He looks a little offended in the
picture. Paul just wanted to cry and he did through the whole
picture session. In this picture he is between wails and almost
smiled for the photographer. We forgot to check little Jo Ann, so
her hair ribbon is untied in the picture. You have got to see this. |
