Lena White Ricketts
October 21, 1897.  We had been unsure of her age since she did not like to tell anyone, but the 1900 Census
lists her as being two years old and gives her birthdate.  (See Census Note at end of article.) In Lucy Mills
Ricketts' diary, she spells Lena's name as "Leana."
Lena Ricketts married Roy Clemons Holley.  Many years after his death, Lena married John Holland Payne.  
Lena and her first husband Roy Holley had three children:

1.   ROY CLEMONS HOLLEY, JR. was born June 6, 1919 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He married Ruby
Lee Calvert in December 1939.  On September 2, 1954, Roy married Burnell Setliff.  He was employed by Dan
River Mills as an over-the-road driver for nineteen years before his death on July 2, 1972.  Roy and his first
wife Ruby Lee Holley had one child: Roy Clemons Holley, III.

2.  INEZ HOLLEY was born October 19, 1923. She first married Dorel William Pearman. After he died in 1975,
she married Thomas E. Hay, Jr. (b.Dec. 2, 1918).  Inez and her first husband Dorel Pearman had two children:
William Maylon Pearman and Nita Robin Pearman.

3.  ELIZABETH HOLLEY married Herman Towell, who is deceased. She later married Albert Bailey and they
lived in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.  Elizabeth and her first husband Herman Towell had two children: Beth
Towell Perry and Anderson "Andy" Towell.


CENSUS NOTE:  Also on that Census: C. E. Ricketts age 29, Lucy J. Ricketts age 23, Willie L. [Leonard]
Ricketts age 7, and Viola Lee Ricketts age 4.
