Edward Bennett Ricketts was born August 26, 1873, in Pittsylvania Co., Va. He was the son of
John W. Ricketts and Sarah "Sally" Jennings, and the grandson of Nathaniel Ricketts. He died June
17, 1946 and is buried in Highland Cemetery in Danville, Virginia. Edward Bennett Ricketts was
married twice:

  •  First marriage to Capitola Lee Wright and they had three children:
1. John Ricketts
2.  Dewey Ricketts
3.  Mamie Ricketts

  •  Second marriage to Ruth Magdalene Richardson (June 9, 1877-Dec. 4, 1962). They were
    married on October 25, 1903. Ruth was the daughter of Civil War veteran George Thomas
    Richardson and Amanda Jane Payne Richardson.  Edward and Ruth Ricketts lived in the
    Sutherlin community of Pittsylvania County, Virginia. They had seven children:
1.  Oscar Daniel Ricketts (b.May 13, 1905) married Blanche Mitchell.
                              
2.  Estes Beverley Ricketts (Dec. 8, 1906-July 12, 1957) was married twice.
         First marriage was to Emma Brooks Graham.
             They had two children:
                  a.  Alma Marie Ricketts married Owen Tyler Roach
                  b.  Frank Edward Ricketts (Jan. 22, 1943 - Feb. 1943)
          Second marriage was to Catherine Haley

3.  Paul Zebedee Ricketts (Nov. 2, 1908) married Mary Louise Tarpley (b. 1916).
   They had two children:
                  a.  Paula Dianne Ricketts married Gene Thomas Norton
                  b.  Jeral Keith Ricketts married Susan Denice Wilborne

4.  Amanda Ruth Ricketts (Sissie) was born Aug. 25, 1910 and married Glenn Barker.       
   They had two children:
                  a.  Edward Glenn Barker married Phyllis Flood
                  b.  Dorothy Jean Barker

5.  Harold Edward Ricketts (b. June 15, 1912) married Della May Kirks  (b.Sept. 17,
   1916). They had three children:
                  a.  Garland Leon Ricketts married Joyce Angelean Aaron
                  b.  Naomi Gail Ricketts  married Bobby Ray Kidd
                  c.  Warren Douglas Ricketts married Jeanette Ruth Handy

6.  Sarah Alma Ricketts was born in March 1917. She did not marry and was for many
   years a high school teacher.

7.  Reuben George Ricketts (1918-1963) married Eliza Yeatts and they had two children:
                   a.  Reuben George Ricketts, Jr.
                   b.  Ellen Kay Ricketts

Edward Bennett Ricketts (1873-1946)
When Danny was researching his Ricketts ancestors in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, he found Paul
and Harold Ricketts, who lived in the Mount Cross Road area.  They and their families were and are
very kind-hearted, friendly people, and Danny was excited to find out they were his cousins.
